Being locked in the house during an unprecedented winter storm event, with rolling blackouts and a toddler can be a bit unnerving. Needless to say, after a few days of that mess, we were ready for a little relaxation to take the edge off. Enter the Pomegranate Margarita. J is usually a beer-only guy, but….desperate times and all that jazz. Even he liked these.

A little tart, a little sweet, and hit the spot perfectly. And thankfully, I already had all the ingredients I needed to make them!

I didn’t have all the things I would have liked for garnishes (extra limes, etc.) but it really is all about the pomegranate in here, anyway, so….

What it takes to make Pomegranate Margaritas

Sugar
Water
Limes
Large Orange
Pomegranate Juice
Silver Tequila
Sugar or Salt for rimming, optional
Lime wedges or pomegranate arils for garnish, optional

How to make Pomegranate Margaritas

Full Printable Recipe Below!

Step 1
Heat water and sugar in a small sauce pan until completely dissolved and the water is clear. Let cool.

Step 2
Pour into a pitcher with lime juice, orange juice, tequila, and pomegranate juice. Stir to mix. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Step 3
Pour a layer of salt or sugar onto a plate, run a lime wedge around the edge of your glasses, and the tip the glass upside down into the salt or sugar (pink is really pretty for these). Fill glasses with ice and the margarita mix, garnish with lime wedges and/or pomegranate seeds, if desired, and enjoy!!
