If you love a creamy, chocolatey dessert that is also an adult beverage, then this creamy chocolate martini is especially for you!

Happy National Martini Day, friends!!

I’ve tried all kinds of martinis. In fact, there used to be this restaurant near my office that had an amazing happy hour that served mini martini flights, and you could get three or six mini martinis – and I tried all the flavors at some point, I’m pretty sure.

I love a good lemon drop martini, apple martini, cosmo, etc. The only one I know for sure that isn’t for me is a traditional dirty martini. Not into olives, or straight liquor, really. Ha! But my favorite kind of martini by FAR, is a chocolate martini. But not just any chocolate martini, friends. I bought a martini recipe book once and followed the directions for a chocolate martini, and I was VERY unhappy with the end result. I don’t want a clear drink with vodka and chocolate liqueur. I want it to be creamy, like these.

You know what I learned the secret is? Irish cream. At least for the ones I have had.

The first time I ever had a chocolate martini was at a bar at happy hour when I was like…23 or 24. So, a long time ago. And it wasn’t long after that I was recreating it (after the gross failed attempt, I asked the bartender how they made them) and it’s been a favorite indulgence of mine every so often since then.

So, when the Festive Foodies bloggers decided to get together and post for National Martini Day, I knew right away what my contribution would be!!

You see, vodka is my liquor of choice in most cases, and I am a chocoholic by nature, so this drink is absolutely perfect for me in every way. But let me be clear, it also packs a punch, so please drink responsibly. No mixer in this my dears. All alcohol.

What’s in a creamy chocolate martini, you ask?

It’s really quite a simple list.

Vodka
Chocolate Liqueur
Irish Cream Liqueur
Ice for shaking
Chocolate syrup & shavings for garnish

That’s it!!

Put all the liquors in the shaker with some ice and shake, shake, shake. Shake, shake, shake. Shake yo’— you get the idea, right? Garnish your martini glasses with some chocolate syrup around the rim and inside the glass, pour your martini in, and use a zester to grate some chocolate bar onto the top.

I also tried a variation of these that used chocolate cherry irish cream (and nixed the chocolate liqueur) and I nearly died of happiness. Absolutely, amazingly delicious. J even tried a sip – and he is a beer-only guy – and said it was pretty good.
