Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I blog because food is something I love, I like to write, I aspire to take beautiful photos (that’s a work in progress!) and I am happy to share the food that I love with whoever might come across it.
When I first started the blog I named it “Sweet Beginnings” thinking that it would be primarily a sweets-related blog. You know, cookies and cakes and brownies and such. But I realized right off that wouldn’t be feasible since I cooked every night and only baked once a week, or less. But I liked the name and so I kept it. And now, the title has come to mean something more to me. It’s not solely about the food, but about life, in general. Whether it’s a first taste, a first smile, a first kiss, a new relationship or friendship, or some other kind of first – so many things in life have such a sweet beginning and very few food blogs – or good ones anyway – are just about the food. The authors of the blogs I follow share parts of their lives, so that the readers feel a connection, feel like they know and care about the person behind the blog. And that’s what I hope to accomplish as well, on some level.
I work a regular 9-5 type of job. I live with my husband, James (known in my posts as J), and he is my taste tester and biggest food fan. We welcomed our baby girl, Natalie Grace, to the world in August 2016 and she has definitely changed our lives – all for the better! We also have 2 fur babies. Zoey (aka Zo-Zo) is our Yorkie, and Roofus (aka Roo or Rooster) is our rambunctious Boston Terrier. I’m a chocoholic at heart and that will never change, but I try to eat my sugar in moderation these days. Majority of the recipes you’ll see here (from 2013 forward, anyway) will be on the healthier side, but I will still be baking and posting goodies as well, not to worry. There are few things that make me as happy as baking up cute little desserts for family, friends, and co-workers.
I’m sure there’s more I could say, but that’s all I’ve got for now. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me here, anytime!
