Mango Pear Crisp is a refreshing dessert, full of fresh fruit coated in cinnamon and sugar, and topped with oat graham crumble – perfect for spring and summer gatherings.

While crisps, crumbles, and cobblers can be (and are) eaten year-round, using fresh seasonal or frozen fruits, when I think of these desserts, I think of spring and summer. Maybe it’s because I’m always wishing for those seasons (have a I mentioned that I loathe cold weather??), or maybe because they are often seen at backyard barbecues and the like. Regardless, when I got my delivery of goodies from Melissa’s Produce, I knew right away that I wanted to use the butterscotch pears and mangoes in a crisp. And I used Nairn’s oat grahams instead of traditional oats for the crumb topping, which did not disappoint. At all.
I wasn’t quite sure, at first, how the pears and mangoes would pair together, but it was even more fantastic than I could have hoped for. The mangoes are sweet and the pears have a light and refreshing flavor so they don’t overpower or compete with each other, they just both taste so good!
What is a Butterscotch Pear?
Butterscotch pears are an Asian variety of pears grown by Melissa’s produce in South Korea. The shape is more round, like an apple versus the typical “pear shape” of other pear varieties. They have a thin skin and a crisp refreshing flavor. They work great it desserts like this Mango Pear Crisp!
