6cupsRice Krispies cerealregular or holiday colors
6ozwhite chocolate chips
Red sugar sprinkles and/or other sprinkles for decorating
Instructions
Line a 9x9 (or 9x13 if you want thinner treats) banking pan with foil or wax paper and set aside.
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Add green food coloring to achieve a dark green color. (I probably used half a small bottle, and it still wasn't super dark. Use your own discretion with how much to use! It will lighten up some once the cereal is stirred in.)
Pour cereal into the saucepan and stir until cereal is all coated with the marshmallow mixture. Use a spatula to push into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Set aside and allow to cool and firm up a bit before cutting.
Carefully life the foil or wax paper from the baking pan and lay out on a cutting board or other safe surface for cutting. Using your cookie cutter (or a knife) cut your Christmas tree shapes and set on a sheet of wax paper or other surface suitable for decorating.
In a medium, microwave-safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips ifor 30 seconds on high, stir, then heat another 15 seconds if needed. Stir until smooth. Place in a piping bag with a narrow tip, or use a spoon to drizzle white chocolate over the top of the treats to look like garland.
Decorate with sprinkles, placing on the melted chocolate so they will stick. Allow the chocolate to set and then you're ready to serve or store in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.
Notes
*The number of treats you yield will depend on the size of the cookie cutter, or the size you cut the triangles if using a knife. My cookie cutter was about 3-inches tall.
