Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 10 oz mini marshmallows
  • Green food coloring
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal regular or holiday colors
  • 6 oz white chocolate chips
  • Red sugar sprinkles and/or other sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  • Line a 9x9 (or 9x13 if you want thinner treats) banking pan with foil or wax paper and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Add green food coloring to achieve a dark green color. (I probably used half a small bottle, and it still wasn't super dark. Use your own discretion with how much to use! It will lighten up some once the cereal is stirred in.)
  • Pour cereal into the saucepan and stir until cereal is all coated with the marshmallow mixture. Use a spatula to push into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Set aside and allow to cool and firm up a bit before cutting.
  • Carefully life the foil or wax paper from the baking pan and lay out on a cutting board or other safe surface for cutting. Using your cookie cutter (or a knife) cut your Christmas tree shapes and set on a sheet of wax paper or other surface suitable for decorating.
  • In a medium, microwave-safe bowl, melt white chocolate chips ifor 30 seconds on high, stir, then heat another 15 seconds if needed. Stir until smooth. Place in a piping bag with a narrow tip, or use a spoon to drizzle white chocolate over the top of the treats to look like garland.
  • Decorate with sprinkles, placing on the melted chocolate so they will stick. Allow the chocolate to set and then you're ready to serve or store in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.

Notes

*The number of treats you yield will depend on the size of the cookie cutter, or the size you cut the triangles if using a knife. My cookie cutter was about 3-inches tall.
