What’s Baking Round-up! Summer Fruits

August 1, 2012 by Jaida 3 Comments

I was fortunate to be the July hostess for my What’s Baking group. As I mentioned in my previous post, I selected Summer Fruits as the theme since there are so  many wonderful fruits in season right now. I waited anxiously all month to see what the girls would make, and let me just tell you…they made some pretty amazing, fruity delights!! Blueberries and cherries seemed to be the dominating fruits, and who can blame the ladies for choosing them? Such great dessert fruits!

I know I now have several recipes to squeeze in before summer is over, and I’m sure you will too! Thank you for all the ladies who participated!

Ange from The Tiny Tyrants Kitchen made White Chocolate Blueberry Muffins to take along for a snack to the Finger Lakes Wine Festival.

Jen from Beantown Baker made me drool over her Roasted Cherry Brownie Cheesecake.
Melissa from I Was Born to Cook used one of my very favorite flavor combos in her Lemon Blueberry Crumb Bars.

Heather of Hezzi D’s Books and Cooks also used lemon and berries to make a delicious looking Lemon Curd with Berries. Yum!

Kim from Just Baked chose a cooler route and made some delectable Blueberry Frozen Yogurt. Perfect for this summer heat!

Carrie from Carrie’s Sweet Life must have been having the same cravings as Jen, when she made these amazing Roasted Cherry Brownies.

Yudith from Blissfully Delicious made a beautiful Easy Berry Cake.

Jenna from Jenna’s Cooking Journey made Fresh Cherry Cupcakes. I love cupcakes and these are so cute!

Eva from Eva Bakes shared another frozen treat with us, with her Cherry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.

Stephanie from Brownies and Blondies made this delicious looking Fresh Blueberry Pie.

Joanna from Newlywed and Newly Cooking stepped out of the berry box when she made this Banana Fig Bread!
Lindsey from Our Share of the Harvest used my very favorite fruit in her Blackberry Buttermilk Cake.
Catherine from Pursuing Domestic Godessness went blueberry picking and then made a delicious Blueberry Buttermilk Cake (I see a trend here…)
Nicole from Seven 8 Nine took advantage of her farmer’s market score to make this Simple Roasted Summer Squash.
Sandra from She Cooks and Bakes made some delicious Strawberry Muffins!
And finally, you may remember my contribution this month – Blueberry Lemon Yogurt Loaf.

Joanna from Newlywed and Newly Cooking will be our hostess for August and she has challenged us to bake something that reminds us of our favorite place. Keep an eye out for those posts in August!!

Welcome!

As a busy wife and mom who also works a full time job, I try to have dinner done in 30 minutes or less so I can spend more of my evenings with my hubby and baby girl, so what you will find here are recipes that are mostly-healthy, quick and easy. Of course I have desserts, less healthy and more time-intensive meals as well (everything in moderation!), but all-in-all, you can count on weeknight friendly options, all made with love and dished up with a side of life, love, and family!
