Throwback Thursday

February 26, 2015 by Jaida Leave a Comment

Oh, the elementary school days. I remember so much from those days, as I started my new life back in my home town. I remember being in the play Alice in Wonderland in 3rd grade. I didn’t have a leading role, but was part of the chorus. We were all dressed in card costumes. You know, the Queen’s army of cards? Yep, we were the chorus. I even wore that costume for Halloween one year after that. Ha! I wish I had a picture of that to share.
Just imagine a bunch of eight year old kids standing on bleachers at the side of the stage dressed like this:

I was obsessed with New Kids on the Block (NKOTB, wut wut!?!?), Joey in particular. My next door neighbor, and best friend, were always at each other’s houses, playing Barbies usually. Wilson Phillips was another tape (yes, I said tape) that you would hear blaring from my room on a regular basis. Hold on for one more day? Ok, I will!

My parents got divorced when I was in 4th grade, and that’s also the time when I started writing. I started writing a lot of short stories, then later poetry, and even a book! I’ll get to that story in the middle school years. I’ve always had a love of writing, it’s sort of my own personal therapy outlet. I do better with writing things down then I do saying them. So, naturally I’d turn to blogging later in my adult life, right??

As a busy wife and mom who also works a full time job, I try to have dinner done in 30 minutes or less so I can spend more of my evenings with my hubby and baby girl, so what you will find here are recipes that are mostly-healthy, quick and easy. Of course I have desserts, less healthy and more time-intensive meals as well (everything in moderation!), but all-in-all, you can count on weeknight friendly options, all made with love and dished up with a side of life, love, and family!
