Throwback Thursday

January 29, 2015 by Jaida Leave a Comment

Good morning, and WELCOME to the first installment of Throwback Thursday! These posts will be for reminiscing on various things that I liked to eat, watch, listen to, wear, etc. at various ages. A different age each month, with a different topic each week. Won’t that be fun??

I decided to start off by giving you a little glimpse of me as a baby and toddler. I don’t have any of my own memories that I can share, but I can give you some pictures – don’t worry, I’ll spare you the naked bathtub pics – and a few little tidbits that my parents have told me over the years. Then next week you’ll get to meet the 4-year-old me, in all her glory and wonder. Ha!

It’s hard to believe I was ever this tiny. And that little bald head. Gah.

My mom loves the  pic below because you can only see one of my feet. I’m not sure why exactly that is so amusing to her, but every time she see that pic, she comments on the “missing foot.” I’m pretty sure my Mama still has those shoes. And that dress, too.

My Daddy always jokes that I walked when I was 10 months old, but not again until I was 4…because I wanted to be carried everywhere. Eh, may as well get a free ride while ya can, right??

There’s my Mama on the right…ain’t she purdy? 🙂 I love my Mama. And my Grannie made that there birthday cake. Because she pretty much made all of our birthday cakes when I was a kid. She was a cake making and decorating rock star. And her icing. OMG that icing.

Aww, and there’s my little pooh bear. While I don’t remember him at all, I think it’s safe to assume that he was my favorite teddy bear when I was one. I mean, he got to be in the photo shoot, so he must have been special, right?? I sure seemed to be a happy baby, didn’t I?
Actually, that’s truth from what I’m told. That I really only cried if I was hungry or needed to be changed. All smiles. (And still barely any hair.) My parents got pretty lucky, huh? Well, I guess they deserved a break after having twin boys to raise for the 6 years before me. Ay yi yi. That’s a handful for sure!
And this must have been just before I got my ears pierced…I remember Mom saying I was 1 when she took me.

Now here’s me when I was 2. Notice all smiles in the first picture, but little miss sassy pants in the second. I showed J this pic and asked him if he recognizes that face. He said, “That’s your mean face!”
Hahaha….I guess some things do stay with you from childhood. I think that’s my “I am not happy about this one.little.bit.” face. I’ve always said that I may not say what I’m thinking all the time, but you’ll always be able to tell by my facial expressions. I can’t hide my emotions from them to save my life. If I’m upset, pissed, happy..whatever. You’re going to know it, one way or another.

And look at those long legs! Even now, at 34, I’m pretty much all legs. I’m not tall, but what there is of me is mostly legs. Ha. Oh, and my little earrings and bracelet. Yep, I was turning in to quite the little prissy pants by this time.

I loved my babies. See the Campbell’s kids there on either side of my Rufus dog?

And I couldn’t post without some sort of food pic, could I? See how sophisticated my palate was even at 3?? Ha!

One of the twin brothers playing with me. They’ll deny it, but they loved me. 🙂

Me and Grandpa. I must have hated being cold, even then…all bundled up!

See how much my Mama loved me?? Guacamole, for the win!!

Another one of me and Mama.

All that love, playing, and food had me tuckered out!! Face-plant!

There is a picture of me as a wee toddler walking around with a giant sour pickle, but sadly I couldn’t find that one to share with you all.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this first edition of Throwback Thursday and seeing a little glimpse of me as a leetle bebe, as much as I enjoyed going through all the pictures myself!

Welcome!

As a busy wife and mom who also works a full time job, I try to have dinner done in 30 minutes or less so I can spend more of my evenings with my hubby and baby girl, so what you will find here are recipes that are mostly-healthy, quick and easy. Of course I have desserts, less healthy and more time-intensive meals as well (everything in moderation!), but all-in-all, you can count on weeknight friendly options, all made with love and dished up with a side of life, love, and family!
