This is not your average broccoli salad. The flavors and textures of this strawberry broccoli salad make it the perfect side dish for all your summer gatherings. Picnics, barbecues, birthday parties at the park – whatever the occasion, you want this to be a part of it!

I have been making this broccoli salad for spring and summer events for the past several years, and it’s always been a big hit, and an often requested dish.
When I teamed up with some of my friends to bring you all a week of bbq recipes, I decided to give this new variation a try. And let me just tell you – it holds its own against the more traditional version. I mean, what better addition than strawberries?!? And avocado. Because avocado makes just about everything better.

So, what makes this broccoli salad so special? It’s the strawberries, avocado, pumpkin seeds and creamy feta, no question. But, we can’t forget about the creamy poppy seed dressing….because that really makes it special.
It’s great for a backyard barbecue, and I even made it to take to Easter lunch with J’s family. It’s versatile, it’s healthy, it’s delicious, and it holds up well and doesn’t have to be kept ice cold. What more could you ask for in a summer side dish??

Strawberry Broccoli Salad
Ingredients
Strawberry Broccoli Salad
- 5 cups chopped broccoli florets
- 1 1/2 cups chopped strawberries (about 1 lb)
- 1 sweet apple, (like Fuji), cored and chopped
- 3/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1/3 cup crumbled feta
- 1 large avocado, peel and pit removed, chopped
Creamy Poppy Seed Dressing
- 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup mayo or Miracle Whip
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1-2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp poppy seeds
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine all of the salad ingredients thru the feta.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the poppy seed dressing ingredients. Pour over salad and toss to combine. Gently stir in the avocados and refrigerate until ready to serve, at least 30 minutes, but overnight if possible. The longer you can let it sit, the better the flavors will set in.

I love your strawberry twist to this classic BBQ salad dish. The crunch from the seeds and apples make it even better.
Thank you, Ellen!
Oh my goodness gracious, this looks AMAZING.
A refreshing salad to cool down the BBQ!
I agree with you. Avocado makes everything better! This is one gorgeous salad! I love all the ingredients!
What an absolutely amazing salad. This is definitely going on my menu one day soon.
I make broccoli salad a lot but never with strawberries, yum!
Strawberries are such a great addition! We’re just getting into strawberry season here – I think this is in my future!
I’m honestly having a hard time imagining this one…which means I’m going to have to make it to satisfy my curiosity!!!
The dressing sound amazing, and I love that you used pumpkin seeds!
That is just so pretty! I love both, so I am going to have to make this!
Strawberries and broccoli? It’s not a pair I would have thought to put together. But now I think about it, it sounds scrumptious. Especially with the cranberries and crunch from the seeds.
The feta, apple, avocado, and broccoli combo sounds so good! The is a great salad with lots of ingredients, but still nice and light for a hot summer day. Adding this to my list!
