Pumpkin Biscuits are great as a breakfast item, or paired with a delicious fall-flavored soup or chili.

Biscuits are a very versatile carb that can be enjoyed for breakfast or as an accompaniment to a meal. These Pumpkin Biscuits are no different. A more savory version of a pumpkin treat, they are delicious for breakfast, smeared with some Maple Cinnamon Butter, or served alongside a hearty bowl of chili or soup. However you decide to enjoy them, you’ll be so glad you did! And if you have some leftover pumpkin puree to use up, that’s the perfect excuse to try these out right away!

  • All-purpose flour
  • Brown sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Allspice
  • Unsalted butter
  • Pumpkin puree
  • Buttermilk

How to make Pumpkin Biscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F and line a baking sheet with foil. Spray lightly with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl combine flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  3. Add the butter, and cut in until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the pumpkin and buttermilk and mix well.
  5. Add the pumpkin mixture to the flour mixture and stir to combine. Use your hands or a dough hook if using a stand mixer, to gently knead the dough a few times.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface (if the dough is still a little sticky, sprinkle some flour on top) and roll out to 1-inch thickness. Use a round biscuit or cookie cutter to cut biscuits, and then place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
  8. Serve with Maple Cinnamon Butter!
